Il corso è dedicato alla musica medievale, con un accento particolare sulle voci "diverse", come le donne, gli ebrei e gli altri (come, per esempio, gli strumentisti), che ci hanno lasciato poche tracce scritte.

Il repertorio proviene dal XII e XIII secolo: le opere dei Troubadours e dei Trouvères, ma anche delle loro controparti femminili o ebree, insieme alla musica strumentale dell'epoca.

Le lezioni per cantanti, tenute da Els Janssens-Vanmunster, saranno focalizzate sulla tecnica vocale, l'interpretazione e la corretta pronuncia; mentre quelle per gli strumentisti, tenute da Avery Gosfield e Massimiliano Dragoni, alla tecnica, alla ricostruzione del repertorio strumentale, all'accompagnamento dei cantanti e all'improvvisazione.

Saranno offerte anche ampie opportunità ai cantanti e agli strumentisti di suonare insieme durante le lezioni d'ensemble e le prove per la preparazione del concerto finale.

Insieme a queste attività, sono previsti dei seminari sulle fonti, il contesto storico e la pratica esecutiva.

TROBADOUR, TROBAIRITZ, PAYYETAN, JOGLEUR: VOCI DIVERSE NELLA MUSICA MEDIEVALE

Dates: July 20th (afternoon) - July 24th

This course will center on the music of the middle ages, with a special focus on “diverse" voices: women, Jews, and others (like instrumentalists) who left us little written traces behind.

The repertoire is drawn from the 12th and 13th centuries: the oeuvres of the Troubadours and Trouvères, but also of their female or Jewish counterparts, as well instrumental music from the same era.

Courses for Singers will center on vocal technique, interpretation, and correct historical pronunciation; while instrumentalists will work on technique, reconstructing instrumental repertoire, accompanying singers, and improvisation. 

There will also be ample opportunities for singers and instrumentalists to play together during ensemble courses and in preparation for the final concert.

Next to practical work, the course will be rounded out by seminars on sources, historical background, and performance practice.
